How to keep your inventory fresh!

How to rotate your stock and keep it fresh.

Do you keep stock on hand for your customers convenience?

Stock rotation is the key!

I tend to keep stock on hand because I frequently do public displays.  I also like to maximize my selling profits by buying stock on sale.  If you like to keep stock on hand you will need a method for keeping your inventory fresh.  It is EXTREMELY important to keep your stock fresh.  BB (Best Before) dates, BIUB (Best if Used By) and (EX) Expiry dates play a big part of this.  When I get new stock in I ALWAYS rotate my stock.

Rotate my stock?  What does this mean.    It is a simple method.  I always take my newly purchased stock and put it behind my stock that is on the shelf.   This way it also keeps it  fresh for the customer.
If you have multiples in a box ... always right the date on the outside of the box.  This makes it a big time saver.

What if the item doesn't have a BB (Best Before date)?  The easiest way it to write the date it was purchased on the outside of the box.

How do I get started when I already have stock on my shelf?    Small steps & sections is the key.  Working with one group of product at a time is what I found to be the best method.

For example lets take cinnamon.

Say I have 12 cans of cinnamon and there are 3 different BIUB (Best If Used By) dates.   Here are the dates      APR 02 2022,   DEC 20 2020 &  MAR 15 2021. The ones dated DEC 20 2020 will go on the front of my shelf,  The ones dates MAR 15 2021 will go next in the middle. The cinnamon dated APR 05 2022 is the with the longest date so that will go at the back.

This simple and easy to follow method will save you time and keep you organized in the future when your new stock arrives.  Have fun!
